Life is full of ironies. Charlie Chaplin would stumble and fall on screen and the audience would roar with laughter. He once entered a ‘Charlie Chaplin walk’ contest and came in 20th. Al Capone’s older brother was a federal prohibition agent. The tree that the Beatles planted in LA died from a beetles infestation. How ironical, the events in our life are. So is the case with our society, countries and the world we live in. Myanmar just witnessed a military coup and the deposed leader won the nobel prize for peace a few years ago. The coronavirus is a pandemic which affects all countries but the fight against it is different from country to country. Within each country it varies from zip code to zip code. How can we beat the pandemic if the whole world is treated in a comprehensive fashion , otherwise new strains will emerge. We all witnessed an insurrection in our capital and now, we are seeing justice being served. Many people were involved in the insurrection. There were leaders who participated and were the instigators of this most undemocratic act following a legitimate election. Many of the people who participated have been arrested and criminal investigations are going on. The leaders who incited and provoked the insurrection blatantly and in plain sight, are scot-free and a different lower standard of justice is being applied to them. There is no threat of them being arrested while the investigations are going on. The people and their leaders are being held to different standards of justice? Is that not ironical? Should our leaders not be held to a higher standard of Justice? If , as a people or a nation, we value ideology more than justice, we will crumble……..
