The first time I imbibed alcohol, it tasted disgusting. It was way before I was of legal age. There was fear of my parents finding out about it. Also there was guilt involved. There was nothing great about the experience. However it was a euphoric experience for me and my accomplices in crime, accompanied by an intense feeling of pleasure and happiness. Isn’t euphoria related to pleasurable experiences? Driving a motorcycle dangerously as a teenager was euphoric too. There are happy experiences, and then there are euphoric experiences. Now listening to old Vinyl records is exhilarating. When I can make my children’s dreams come true, there is jubilation within. Sounds like there are several ingredients which go into the feeling of euphoria. It is not necessarily pleasure but there is sharing, giving, allowing, permitting, displaying and perhaps risk taking involved. It transcends pleasure. Happiness and pleasure is what we receive. Euphoria is an inside job……..
