The journey of our life is consumed by trying to get out of the entangled mess that we create for ourselves. Unlike the insects which get caught in a spider’s web, we create the web for ourselves and once we get caught in it, we expend all our energy trying to get out of it. If this is not insanity, I do not know what is. Our lives are so busy trying to not only earn enough money to have a comfortable life but to be able to afford us a nice car, house, and vacations. Does a nice car give us a lot of pleasure? What about when we work harder and make our lives even busier to be able to afford that nice car? Then we fret each time we have to replace the tires and repair the scratches. The oil changes and the car repairs. Do we get entangled with a car at the expense of living a fuller life? We work harder so that we can own bigger homes. The bigger the homes, the more frequent are the leaks and the air conditioner breakdowns on the hottest day of the year. We get entangled with relationships that we do not want but do not know how to get out of them and choose to suffer alone. We buy stuff off Amazon that we do not need and then try to find a place or function for it. Our entanglements lead us to have barren lives since we do not have the time for pursuits that add to our lives. Stress, suicides, chronic diseases, and dissatisfaction result from our pursuit of entanglement. Let’s take a step back, a long pause, a deep breath. Our life is consumed by the entanglements of our own choosing. Let’s make a conscious decision not to get entangled in the first place. Then there will be no need to untangle. Let’s imagine what a life without entanglements must feel like. I can only imagine……
